Nettles and Crohn's Disease, Colitis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Anti-TNF-alpha...[is] very effective in the treatment of acute Crohn's
disease, but are minimized by the decline of their effectiveness after
repeated applications. The stinging nettle extract, IDS 30, is an
[auxiliary] remedy in rheumatic diseases [Crohn's Disease, inflammatory
bowel disease, colitis, arthritis] dependent on a suppressive effect of
"CONCLUSIONS: The long-term use of IDS 30 [extract of nettle leaf] is
effective in the prevention of chronic...colitis...[It may be a new
therapeutic option for pro-longing remission in inflammatory bowel disease."
